TECHNOLOGY REVIEW - Sony Customer Service & Earphone Unboxing

I am obsessed with music - I am constantly listening to something. Whether I'm on the train, studying or just relaxing, chances are I'll have earphones in (much to the annoyance of those around me). As such, I tend to go through headphones at a ridiculous rate.

Eleven months ago, I purchased a set of Sony earphones at Harvey Norman - they weren't overly expensive, but they weren't cheap either. They served me well, up until a couple of weeks ago when the left earphone died.

Thankfully, these days I tend to keep the packaging and receipts for every set of earphones I purchase. I called Sony's Customer Support, explained the situation and gave them all the necessary information. Within five minutes, they told me they were going to send out a new set of earphones! I wish I could remember the name of the man I spoke to, as he was lovely and really helpful.

The new earphone on the left (still in packaging), and the old earphones on the table.
Within a week, I received a text message and an email saying that my headphones were being dispatched. I received these headphones on Tuesday 22nd April, which is a week after I received the text/email. Of course, this whole saga happened to take place over the Easter break, so I would assume they would've been here sooner if it weren't for the public holidays.

Onto the earphones themselves - the ones I purchased last year were discontinued so they have provided me with a pair of headphones which are around the same price point. I haven't used them yet, but I'll let you know on the quality once I have. The new set of earphones are the Sony MDR-EX110AP, which are Smart Phone Compatible. According to Sony's website, they have:

"In-line microphone for phone calls [and] assignable controls for smartphone control and integration"

[UPDATE: I love these earphones! I've never owned a pair with any sort of controls - it is so convenient. The sound quality is great. Overall, no complaints here - I'm very happy!]

Excuse all the photos - apparently I was feeling particularly artsy!

I am hugely impressed with the quality of Sony's Customer Service. I would recommend them one hundred percent to anyone after the fantastic experience I have had.

If you would like to have a look at the new earphones, I'll leave the link to Sony's website below.
